Located on the Portneuf River in southeastern Idaho, Pocatello welcomes visitors eager to view the area's attractions. The city is a burgeoning business center and home to a number of high technology companies, but its small size and friendly atmosphere make it a relaxing location. The mountains, waterways and parks near Pocatello, including 12 mi (19 km) of greenbelt along the Portneuf River, facilitate a host of outdoor activities such as fishing, biking, hiking and climbing in the summer and skiing in the winter. The Pocatello Zoo, the Idaho Museum of Natural History and the Ross Park Aquatic Center are just a few of the exciting attractions awaiting visitors. With yearly special events as diverse as the Dodge National Circuit Finals Rodeo in mid-March, the Biggest Show in Idaho Fireworks Extravaganza on July 4th, and the Bannock County Bluegrass Festival in late August, Pocatello offers a vacation experience like no other.
